Hello peeps. Welcome to the first post of my Blog. Here, you are going to see about the Ownership experience of my Bajaj Pulsar 200NS (BS - IV, Non ABS). I've bought this on 2017 when Bajaj officially re launched this bike. While I was in my 8th standard, Bajaj launched this beauty and I always wanted to ride one of those. This was the first bike that Bajaj launched after hooking up with KTM. I've researched a lot about this bike and wanted to buy especially that yellow color which grabs the attention like anything. But at that situation I'm unable to buy it. After launching the AS200, Bajaj discontinued the production of NS200 to improve the sales of AS. AS200 shares most of the body parts with NS.
After riding several kilometers, I felt the rear suspension was stiff where the bike took the bumps very hard. I've researched about this on the net and I found many reviewers also said the same things. At the first service, I've adjusted the rear shock to medium level. Due to the presence of Monoshock gas charged suspension at rear, the cornering stability was very good. At the certain RPM, I could feel small amount of vibrations on the foot pegs and in handles. The performance was good on the freeways, where the engine turns to be smooth and giving you the good experience and feeling. The headlight gives decent amount of beam throw which also gives you the best vision in night times. Many says, it lacks LED lights. But i think halogen is good enough for this and also performs well. Over 110's we can experience some amount of wind blast which may cause discomfort. We can cruise around 100 to 110 very easily on highways without any struggle. The anchoring jobs are done by double piston floating caliper by Bybre on front and single piston caliper on rear which is also decent. The amount of heat generated is manageable on highways, but in city it causes discomfort on traffics. I don't redline always. The rear brake pedal caused me pain in my right foot because the angle was too narrow. When I'm not using rear brake, I had to keep the front portion of the foot off the brake pedal which is also not safe.
I too faced some of the problems in my bike. After first service, the oil leaked near the pickup coil which is placed on top of the magnet case. The problem was not rectified also after changing the oil seal. The rear shock was somewhat stiffer at the beginning. The pillion seat lacks cushioning and creates pain on your bum if you travel for long time. Barely we can see panel gaps which creates sound in the bumps. The quality of plastic used in side panels is not good. If we tighten them slightly, it breaks. Be careful with it. I saw many people said like, the engine lacks performance after some years. I would say, if you take care of your bike completely and by servicing periodically, it would perform as good as it would. Many peoples are going after aftermarket air intakes in the name of modification. I don't know how the performance of bike increases only by changing intakes without minor tuning and without installing free flow exhaust system which creates abnormal back pressure in the combustion chamber. Another problem is deposition of dust and carbon particles in throttle body and in Carburettor butterfly valve. This could be deposited in the sensors present in throttle body and the signal sent to the ECM may become wrong which affects the initial pickup and performance of the bike. So it is always suggested to service our bike periodically where these kind of problems are avoided. Another most complaint we can hear from the owner is the Mileage. The mileage of the vehicle depends on the several factors like tyre pressure, suspension, load, driving style, engine condition. If you are aware of these factors then you can expect good mileage from your bike. Another problem i faced is leakage of oil from gear shaft sprocket, where the engine oil mixed with the chain lubricant and created problem. The problem is solved by replacing the oil seal. After riding several kilometers you may have to adjust the valve tappet clearance and clutch basket shake which may change the engine noise which is not pleasant. It varies from vehicle to vehicle.
At the end i can say, if you take care of your machine periodically it performs always good to you. After 4 years, I didn't got the thought of why I bought this bike. According to my use it performs well and good.
That's it. Thanks for your valuable time in reading this.
