Royal Enfield now working on some EVs

All the motorbike manufactures in India has now started to move towards electrification. Recently, Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Company also announced its new segment for their electric vehicles in India. Now, UK based manufacturer Royal Enfield announced that they are also working on electric motorbikes in order to grab various customers across our country any also in globally. They also mentioned that they would not discontinue their gasoline powered motorbikes.

They also mentioned that it'll take some years for them to test, develop and launch the electric models. But, they'll continue to develop and update their existing models like they did for Meteor as the new frame and new engine has been completely put together which resulted in a smooth cruiser based motorbike. The electric segment has started to bloom in our country and so the manufacturers started to jump into the EVs just for our future and to bring out the heavy competition.

Mr. Siddhartha Lal, managing director, Eicher Motors said that they were strategically working on developing the EVs and also in developing the ICE models. He said that their model will look like the modern classic, thereby maintaining its classic looks. Their motorbikes in the market will go through sales by handling different ways and strategies. He also said that by putting the things all together including product development and manufacturing which is hooked up with a strong brand and a extensive distributor network, they'll understand what customer needs and design their motorbike according to that.

Royal Enfield now sells their premium range of motorbikes including Himalayan, 650 twins, Meteor, Classics globally and this proves that the retro motorbikes are going to have a great future. The thing is how they'll put together the electric powertrain in a motorbike which gives the retro looks. The manufacturer's other rival like Jawa also planned to launch their EV and also the development phase has begun already.
