Yamaha displayed this new scooter a few days before. Now the manufacturer have launched the Fascino 125 Hybrid which is expected to reach the dealerships at this month end. It comes with the both drum and disc variant. Drum variant costs about ₹70,900 and the disc variant about ₹78,550 both ex showroom Chennai.
Powering the scooter is a 125cc, air cooled, fuel injected, Blue Core motor which produces 8bhp at 6,500rpm and 10.3Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. The engine is equipped with a Smart Motor Generator (SMG) system in which the magneto unit itself acts as a both alternator and self starter. This is the same system known as silent start feature and the Alternator Current Generator (ACG) which is patented and used by Honda. Other than that, it also have a Bluetooth connectivity and a side stand cut off feature which ensures the rider's safety. Like all other scooter, it also have Unified Braking System in which the braking force is distributed to both the wheels if we pull the brake lever thereby helping in reducing the stopping distance. The Bluetooth feature helps the rider in getting information like riding history, location of the vehicle, parking record etc..
Mainly we have to look at the two new features which make the motorbike to stand out of the crowd. First one is the automatic stop & start system which turns off the vehicle when the engine is idling or stopped. This saves fuel but not a much. But if you calculate the amount of fuel saved over a long period of time, this feature makes it worth. Second one is the Hybrid system. As we know, here the magneto unit acts also as a starter known as Smart Motor Generator. It also acts as a electric motor which helps the engine by providing a small power, assisting the scooter when accelerating from a stop or in climbing a incline. This assist function will be displayed in the instrument cluster if in action. This assistance of the motor will be stopped automatically after three seconds or when rider closes the throttle. This helps the new Fascino to produce 0.6Nm of torque more than the previous model. The manufacturer claims that the drive force at the rear wheel has been improved by 30%.
It comes with total 9 color options. The USB charger comes only as an accessory. The point to note here is that only the disc variant have the features like LED headlamp, DRL and tail lamp and this variant only have a Bluetooth connectivity feature.
