Last year, the Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki has released a motorbike named W800 which is the retro model. After its launch, the manufacturer also announced that they'll bring on the entry level retro styled motorbike in our country by the name W175. After this announcement, development mules were spotted testing after two weeks. Since that, no info were shared regarding this motorbike and now, under heavy camo, this motorbike is spotted testing which looks production ready. What I love in this motorbike is, the manufacturer has managed to maintain its path to give the motorbike a retro feel and look.
If you followed my posts regularly, you would know that I always love the old stuffs and so the old motorbikes. For my liking, the W800 itself looks well and good. Its good to see the manufacturers design, develop and gives us the products with retro stuffs and I wish the manufacturers to continue the same also in our future. Looking into its design, it comes with the round headlamps, teardrop shaped fuel tank, single piece seat, round turn indicators, wired spoke wheels, round rear view mirrors and a vintage styled brake lights. Because of the presence of heavy camouflage, some of the details were hidden. It would be even better if this motorbike comes with chrome plated front mudguards, rear fenders, chrome plated rear view mirrors and a traditional round instrument cluster with a analog tacho. You may think why the bike in this age have to come with analog units instead of a digital display. But, not everyone only few people loves the motorbike with total retroish look and features. In my point of view, it'll be good if all the manufacturer keeps at least one model completely containing retro elements and features.
The handlebar is wider which is put together along with seat and foot pegs will make the rider comfortable. It comes with the conventional twin shock absorbers and it looks like the shocks were hooked up to the box section swingarm. It also have the conventional single piece grab rail and fork gaiters which even more improves the retro feel. The engine is expected to spit out 13PS of power at 7500rpm and 13.2Nm of torque at 6500rpm. The engine will be air cooled, 175cc, SOHC motor. In the spy shot, we can able to see the fins at the engine. Who knows, there are also chances for the manufacturer for providing a oil cooling system which makes this machine also comfortable for long distance travel. Another thing we have to know is, this bike's big brother W800 comes with the bevel drive system in which the camshaft is driven by the bevel gear. But in W175, there are less chance for bringing out this mechanism which may increase the overall cost of the vehicle. The anchoring jobs will be done by the disc system at the the front and a drum brake system at the rear.
If this motorbike is launched in our market very soon with reasonable and attractive pricing, surely this model will give the toughest competition for the other motorbike in its category like Apache, Pulsar and the retro motorbikes like Classics, Jawa 42, Imperiale etc..
