I came to know about this brand few years back in order to know about the hub center steering system which is implemented on a model Tesi H2. It seems like the manufacturer has revealed a plan for this KB4 model back in the year 2019 and it is expected that the same will be launched within this year end. Years before, some rumors has gained momentum that the Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki has acquired this brand and it happened. As expected, some parts for the Bimota models has been borrowed from the same.
The name KB refers its predecessor which Bimota made back then in the 78 & 80s. As said previously, Kawasaki is now a major stakeholder in the company and the motorbike is based on the Kawasaki's inline 4 cylinder engine which is used on the Ninja 1000 series. But, the design of the motorbike differs where Bimota managed to design a new steel tubular CF frame.
Design elements
I don't know why but looking it from the front, it slightly remembers me the Superveloce 800. The motorbike is retroish which I absolutely loves. The fairing also remembers the same. The chassis now weighs less compared to the donor. The fairing looks inspired from the Cafe Racing style and the fuel tank's line perfectly matches the rear cowl. The fairing doesn't cover fully where the engine case is exposed slightly. Exhaust is upswept and the clip-ons are lowered highly which tells us that the machine is sports ready. Front end have a small circular LED headlamp and the air ducts which looks functional makes us believe that the motorbike is also equipped with a RAM air intake system.
Powertrain & others
Some documents confirms that the motorbike is equipped with a motor which is borrowed from the standard Ninja 1000 expected to produce about 104.5kW & 111Nm of peak torque at 10,000 & 8,000rpm respectively. We can expect a better performance with the help of suspension units from Ohlins and braking components from Brembo. The wheelbase of the motorbike is shortened to 1,390mm where the donor tends to have about 1,440mm. Also we can expect some modern electronic features such as cornering ABS, traction control and a fully fledged ride by wire system. It weighs only about 194kg where its cousin Ninja is 41kg more heavier.
We can expect the manufacturer to reveal the motorbike at the upcoming EICMA show which is about to happen in the month of November and also it seems like the sales will begin soon after the reveal.
