MV Agusta Brutale 1000RS unveiled

MVs are known as the Ferraris of motorbikes as their models are great both in terms of aesthetics and performance. Now the exotic manufacturer has unveiled the new motorbike in the Brutale segment that is 1000RS which is a comfortable & cheaper version of its other sibling 1000RR. Simply we can say it is the lower spec version of the 1000RR. The motorbike is unveiled for the European markets at a price range starting from €25,500 which is about Rs 22.20 lakh and costs less than its sibling.

Powering the motorbike is a 998cc, inline 4 cylinder, LC, DOHC engine which is capable of generating 208hp and 116.5Nm of torque at 13,000 and 11,000rpm respectively which is hooked to a 6 speed transmission system with bi-directional quickshifter . All the chassis components are attached to a steel tubular trellis frame. It gets a Marzocchi fully adjustable USD at the front and a single fully adjustable shock from Sachs hooked to a single sided aluminium alloy swingarm instead of Ohlins unit at both the ends of the RR. But it tends to retract the Ohlins electronic steering damper.

RS is now equipped with a raised clip-on, redesigned footpegs which differentiates the riding posture from the RR. Braking duties are done by the dual 320mm discs with radially mounted 4 piston Brembo calipers at the front and a single 220mm disc with 2 piston Brembo caliper at the rear along with cornering ABS function. Electronics includes TFT 5.5" color display with connectivity features, cruise control, launch control, rear wheel lift control and much more. The motorbike weighs 186kg dry and the fuel tank capacity is 16L.

The 998cc engine is also updated here. In addition to the titanium connecting rods & valves, now the cam timing is revised and so the exhaust collector which improves the midrange performance of the motorbike. Valve tappets also received a diamond like coating which reduces the internal friction of the same. To improve the rear visibility, new rear view mirrors has been added along with a set of new wheels. The motorbike is available in 2 color options that is silver & red and silver & grey. For me, the most attractive thing in the motorbike is a beefy fuel tank and the twin upswept tail pipes. The rear tyre hugger is also present like the RR which is integrated with the LED turn indicators and license plate.
