In the process of launching the motorbikes which comes under BS-VI emission norms, now Ducati has managed to launch the new SuperSport 950 in our country starting from Rs 13.49 lakh along with the S variant which ranges from Rs 15.49 lakh to 15.69 lakh ex-showroom India. The normal variant costs Rs 1.41 lakh more than the BS-IV version and the S variant about Rs 2.10 lakh.
This new version also received changes in its styling. The design elements are inspired from the Panigale sports machine. The fairings are also revised with the new side air vents. The aggressive looking full LED headlamp assembly is inspired from the Panigale V4. Manufacturer states that this new version's overall aerodynamic efficiency is better than that of its predecessor and the windscreen is also now redesigned. The sleek looking LED DRL along with the headlamp always never failed to give the motorbike a devilish look. The muffler looks more compact now exposing the rear 3 Y shaped spokes completely. The rear seat also now comes with the seat cowl.
Both the variants are powered by a 937cc, L twin cylinder, LC, Desmodromic engine which churns out 110hp and 93Nm at 9,000 & 6,500rpm respectively. The manufacturer has managed to maintain the power output as its predecessor and the engine is paired to a 6 speed transmission system with slipper clutch. It gets a ride by wire and bi-directional quickshifter which is present in both the variants where previously, only the S variant received it. Front & rear end gets a 43mm USD from Marzocchi and Sachs monoshock hooked to a singe sided swingarm with the help of progressive linkage where both the one is adjustable. The S variant gets suspension setup from Ohlins which is also fully adjustable at both the ends.
Anchoring jobs are done by twin 320mm discs with a radially mounted 4 piston Brembo calipers at the front and 245mm disc with a 2 piston caliper at the rear which is assisted by a Bosch cornering ABS. The fuel tank capacity is 16L and the overall weight is about 184kg. Other electronics includes different riding modes (urban, touring and sport), traction control, wheelie control and full TFT color display. In addition to that, anti theft system, heated grips and multimedia system also can be added as an accessory and the motorbike rolls with the help of Pirelli Diablo Rosso rubbers. Normal variant gets a single color option that is Ducati Red and the S trim gets 2 color options that is Ducati Red and Arctic White Silk.
This newly launched SuperSport 950 now stands down as a perfect competitor for its other rivals like Ninja 1000SX and the newly launched Aprilia 660 siblings. ZX-10R is also one of the perfect competitor with even more power output.
