Few days before, KTM has unveiled the updated 250 & 390 Adventure globally. As the launch details are unavailable, two camouflaged 390 Adventure was spotted but with different styling and design elements. What to you think? It's a hardcore version of the existing ADV or a Rally variant? Let's discuss...
Like a Dakar rally bike, front end is raised much to allow the suspension travel and so the instrument cluster and handlebar. New transparent windscreen is equipped which is also taller than before. Interestingly, these development mules were spotted on the Indian tarmac which also leaves us confused.
If the bike maker is concentrating the machine for more off-roading, this is the time for them to work because as we all know, off-roading and adventure segment is blooming up more & more in our country recently. Only we have few motorcycles meant for that. Let's wait & watch.
Other than that, TFT instrument cluster is also mounted higher. All together gives the rider a comfortable ergo while standing up. The one on the front is equipped with standard exhaust and the other one differs. I think it's a free flow exhaust and it'll be offered only as an accessory.
Both of them are wrapped with block pattern tyres but with standard alloys. It'll be nice if the manufacturer offers wired spoke rims also as an accessory because it has a separate advantage for off-roading over the alloys. Other hardware components such as braking and suspension system remains the same.
For reference, current 390 Adventure's motor is a 373cc unit producing about 43bhp and 37Nm of peak torque. If it's going to be a hardcore off-roader, surely the motor will be tweaked for producing more torque at lower RPM bands. Cornering ABS, traction control, quickshifter and slipper clutch takes it's place in the regular 390.
As the motorbike is under heavy camouflage, these models could be under the pre-production phase and I think the bike maker will introduce these models sometime by 2023. Just a guess and this also makes me wait eagerly for it's launch.
