Hearing music while riding

Have you ever been riding a motorbike with your earphones on? Some tell it feels good when you hear your favorite music or song while riding. It differs from situation to situation. When you drive a car with music on, the situation down there is totally different. You are in a closed environment. The music is not flowing into your ears directly. You can hear the sound of outer environment unless your system volume is full. So, the question is, can we hear music while riding our motorbike? Let's see..

When you ride a motorbike, you have to deal with multiple noise including engine noise, surrounding noise, wind noise. In addition to that, when you add music to your ears, it just produce unpleasant or harsh sound. You can see many of them hear music while doing jobs like travelling, writing, reading etc... But in the case of riding a motorbike, the scenario is totally different. If you get distracted, your life will become a question mark. When you hear music while riding, surely you are paying some amount of attention to the music. Imagine you are cruising in a highway which is slightly empty and you are hearing a music which you love. While the road is empty, we try to relax slightly. Our concentration will be on music and we feel relaxed. When we do that, we'll fail to notice things and this may cause us problems. Accidents happens unexpectedly right? When you expect everything and ride with alert, you can avoid accidents.

You might raise a question like, then why bikes like goldwing does come with music system in it? Doesn't it create any accidents? Yes. Some cruiser bikes like goldwing have music systems in it. But you have to understand the concept here. There, you are not receiving the music directly into your ears. External speakers are present to hear music while riding. The main goal here is not to block the external noise totally. You have to hear the external noise for sure. In bikes like goldwing, you can hear music along with the external noise. Imagine a situation where you ride a motorbike with full volume of music in your earplugs and suddenly your engine produce any different sound due to some problems or anyone honking at you to alert you or behind you there's any ambulance coming and you fails to notice it.

You can hear music while riding if you like. The problem arises only if you use noise cancelling earphones or normal earphones with max volume. But there are other things you can opt for if you are music addict. For example a in-helmet speaker or a bluetooth intercom. By using this, music is not flowing directly into ears and you are not blocking the external noises. You can adjust the volume according to your need. You can also use that bluetooth intercom device to attend the call or to chat with your fellow friends when you are in a group ride. You can hear your music when you are in the long stretch or when you are relaxed. But when you feel slight traffic, its better to turn off your music and concentrate on the road.

But according to me, hearing music while riding is definitely a unnecessary thing. I've been riding my motorbike for several years and i didn't get the need of hearing music while riding. You can hear music when you read, write, draw, work etc... But when it comes to motorcycling, our life is not in our hands. A small amount of distraction will create us a big problem or a accident. So while riding, make sure that you are following all the rules to stay safe and to make your family & loved one stay happy.
