Triumph has launched its new 2021 Speed Twin in our country starting from Rs 10,99,000 ex-showroom. When BS-IV version is launched, it is priced at Rs 9.46 lakh. This new version now comes with BS-VI emission norms. This modern retro roadster also gets some updates to make it even more better. Pre bookings of the motorbike were done from the month of June itself at a token amount of Rs 50,000.
The engine is a new 1200cc, LC, 270deg parallel twin unit which churns out 100PS of max power at 7,250rpm and 112Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. The power is also 3PS more than the previous version. The torque parameter remains the same as the previous model. It is also said that the new high compression pistons, new cam profiles, new intake system and the revised ports are also included. The engine is synced to a 6 speed transmission system with slip & assist clutch and also includes riding modes such as rain, road and sport. It also features a traction control system and a ride by wire technology for crispy throttle response.
The fuel tank is also tear drop shaped with 14.5L capacity. This motorbike is fabricated with the retro elements like conventional double cradle frame, round shaped headlamp unit, twin rear shocks, single piece seat which minimal body panels. The motorbike is offered in three color options that is Jet Black, Red Hopper and Matte Storm Grey. The instrument cluster is also a twin analog unit with speedometer and tachometer and also gets a small LCD multi functioning display. I always love the analog speedo and tacho as it maintains the traditional feel of the motorbike.
Front end of the motorbike is equipped with a Marzocchi USD forks and twin shocks with adjustable preload at the rear. Braking duties are done by the twin 320mm discs with 4 piston radial Brembo calipers at the front and a single 220mm disc with 2 piston Nissin caliper at the rear where dual channel ABS comes as a standard one. It rolls with the help of Metzeler Racetec RR rubbers accompanied with new 12 spoke cast aluminum wheels.
I personally love these type of motorbikes with retro features. It'll be even more good if it has got a round shaped turn indicators, chrome plated fenders & exhaust and also a chrome rear view mirrors which may have increased the retro feel of the motorbike. I would say Triumph has made a good job in maintaining the retro look and feel of the motorbike and to retain the vintage motorcycling culture. This new move by Triumph will attract more customers who loves modern retro classics.
