In the past few years, maxi scooter segment evolved very much including in India. Maxi scooters are the bigger version of the scooters. For example, Suzuki's Burgman Street, Aprilia's SXR 160 comes under this category. Few days before, BMW has teased its maxi scooter named C 400 GT which is about to enter our country really very soon. The authorized dealers has already begun unofficial bookings for this scooter. It is expected that the scooter will be launched by the next month or by early October.
The first thing which attracted me is the wheel base of the scooter. It also gets a tall wind visor, large & wider seats which tells that this scooter will be comfortable for long rides as well as for touring. Almost every scooters in our country, the engine equipped will be a air cooled one assisted with a cooling fan. That's why, enthusiasts and riders are preferring big motorbikes with more features.
But here, this scooter is propelled by a single cylinder, 350cc, liquid cooled, 4 valve motor which spits out 34hp at 7,500 rpm and 35.2Nm of torque at 5,750rpm. This motor is capable of rolling the scooter at a top speed of 138kmph which is high in numbers for a scooter. Liquid cooling system helps very much in long rides and touring. E-throttle grip or ride by wire makes the throttle input even sharper. Like every other scooters, engine's power is transferred to the rear wheel via a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) system.
Other than that, telescopic forks is offered at the front where the rear end gets a double aluminum swingarm hooked up with double struts which is also capable of adjusting for preload. Braking duties will be handled by a double 264mm disc along with a 4 piston J.Juan calipers at the front and a single disc with a single piston caliper at the rear in which the ABS comes as a standard one. This scooter is offered in three color options that is Style Triple Black, Alpine White and Callisto Gray Metallic.
Other features includes full LED headlamp along with LED rear light and LED winkers, keyless ignition, TFT color display with connectivity features. Heated grips & seat comes as a optional equipment and other accessories includes luggage carriers, windshields, dual USB charging cables etc... But its not sure that these features will be present when it comes to our country. But one thing is sure. This scooter is going to loot up much amount of money from the pockets compared to any other maxi scooters available in our country.
