Kerala RTO bans the usage of helmet mounted action cameras

Recently, moto vlogging is gaining more momentum across the riders where everyone started to use action cameras. Its good to see the riders using all the riding gears properly as well as the action cameras for the safety purposes and for submitting the proof incase of any accidents. In the social medias like Instagram, I always see the modified bikes and the bikers who posts videos which is captured using the action cameras. Some use it in the way really its meant to be handled and some use it just to show off. But now, Kerala RTO has stated that its illegal to mount and use the action cameras on the helmets.

Kerala RTO bans the usage of helmet mounted action cameras

Kerala's Transport Commissioner of the Motor Vehicle Department stated that, capturing videos using the action cameras which is mounted on the helmets is illegal and the license of the rider will be cancelled if the same has been continued. According to the Transport Commissioner, riders who are moto vlogging and use action cameras for safety purposes is concentrating more on recording the footages and about storage where they fails to concentrate more on the road. Most of the moto vloggers speaks the content while riding either for the personal use or for their YouTube channels. So, their concentration on the road is lacking as this questions the safety of the other drivers, riders and pedestrians.

While there's no rule in the Motor Vehicle Act, the police department recalls the section 53 to cancel the license. Section 53 of the Motor Vehicle Department is associated with the modified vehicles in which the registration of the modified vehicle will be cancelled temporarily. This'll hold up to the vehicle which is restored back to the stock condition. It is also not sure that the same will be implemented by the police allover the state. We can see this in two perspectives. Action cameras mounted on the helmets gives the best angle of view and captures almost everything ahead. The angle of view varies from model to model. Incase of any accidents or for any investigation, this recorded footages will be very much helpful as it provides a good view. On the other hand, as said by the Transport Commissioner, most of the riders just use it for showing off in the social medias and others who concentrate more on recording and speaking. If we use it in a correct way by providing much attention to the road, this'll worth it and if we concentrate less, it'll end up in something horrible as the Transport Commissioner said.
