Hero Xpulse 200 4V spied testing

Hike in performance level along with some other mechanical changes were expected in this new version of the motorbike.

The motorbike was first displayed at the EICMA show at Milan, Italy, back in the year 2017. After launching the same in the month of May 2019, this machine became popular by giving new perspective on both the off-roading & ADV segment. It is also one of the best entry level adventure off-roader machine offered by Hero MotoCorp in which there are only few offerings in the segment.

With its off-roading design elements like upswept exhaust assembly, long travel suspension setup, decent amount of ground clearance, upright riding posture & much more, this motorbike is very much capable for heavy off-roading but it still lacks some amount of performance for highway touring. Taking this problem on account, now the manufacturer is really working something on the next gen Xpulse 200. In the spied mule, clearly we can able to see a 4 valve sticker on the fuel tank.

Current version is powered by a 199.6cc, oil cooled, Over Head Cam (OHC), 2 valve motor producing about 17.8bhp at 8,500rpm and 16.45Nm at 6,500rpm which is pretty much decent for a motorbike and also which is affordable. In the 2 valve setup, one cam lobe will be actuating the intake valve and the other one will be actuating the exhaust valve, bringing in the optimum performance from the motor. In the case of 4 valve motor, 2 valves will be present at the intake side and 2 at the exhaust side which is operated by the cam lobes via rocker arms.

4 valves per cylinder allows more air to enter the combustion chamber as there is more opening during the intake stroke of the combustion cycle. If we supply fuel according to that, more power can be achieved especially at top ends that is at higher RPM bands. This 4 valve setup is very much common as we can able to see it more on Bajaj motorbikes. But its not sure about the implementation of valve train that whether its going to be a same SOHC or DOHC arrangement.

Surely if the valve assembly is altered, we have to supply fuel according to that which also concludes that the fuel map in the ECU will be tuned slightly according to that. Other visible change is the color scheme and the graphics of the motorbike. Currently, the motorbike is offered in 5 color schemes including white, matte green, matte grey, sports red and panther black. The spied motorbike is in new blue color and also looks production ready which tells us that the launch of the same is not very far. Other visible change is the heat shielded exhaust tip and engine block along with the crankcase which is not full black in color. All other elements looks to continue the same including the fuel tank, suspension & braking system, instrument cluster etc... If the motor is really going to be equipped with 4 valve setup, surely there'll be hike in output power also along with the overall price of the motorbike.
