After giving us the glimpse of the motorbike multiple times in the form of test mules and launch alert teasers, Bajaj Auto has finally managed to launch the all new Pulsar 250 lineups with two new models namely Pulsar F250 and N250 where N250 is a naked roadster and F250 is a semi-faired roadster. Pulsar N250 is priced at Rs 1,38,000 and F250 at Rs 1,40,000 ex-showroom Delhi.
Design elements
F250 remembers somewhat of the existing 220F, which was launched a decade back. It is mentioned that this model is about to replace the existing 220F. But, the milestone achieved by the 220F wouldn't be replaced by any other thing and I think the manufacturer will discontinue the 220F replacing it with this new model. I wish them not to do that. In terms of styling, it slightly gives us the feel of 220F but looks more sleek. The semi fairing has been redesigned without compromising the sporty appeal of the motorbike.
Front end now gets a LED projector set-up surrounded by the LED DRLs which also looks cool. Wind visor looks tall and it is fabricated in such a way to reduce the wind blast and rear view mirrors looks wide, guess it'd not give us the viewing problems like the 220F. Fuel tank now looks more beefy and the capacity is 14L. Rear end of the motorbike looks somewhat similar to that of the NS200. All four turn winkers are now LED units and its good to see the manufacturer to continue the traditional Pulsar tail lamp design without changing it which also looks cool. Split type seat assembly & grab rails and USB charging socket also comes as part of the plan.
Foot pegs are slightly moved to the rear and the raised clip-ons, which looks similar to the one on the 200NS gives the rider a upright riding posture which will be comfortable for the long rides I believe. Exhaust looks short and it is a twin barrel unit. Rear fender is also short and present above the steering head is a new traditional semi digital instrument cluster which now includes a gear position indicator, range indicator and fuel efficiency. All other chassis components are mounted on a semi double cradle frame instead of the perimeter frame.
On the other hand, N250 gets the same design elements as the 250F except the fairing. Transformer styled headlamp remembers us the MT-15. But, it looks cool and differentiates this model from the other Pulsar. For me, the motorbike looks beefy without the fairing. It shares the same frame and other components with the semi faired sibling. But, nothing will replace the fame that the 220F & 200NS has earned and we also can expect these new models to catch a separate place as its predecessors did.
Power source & hardware
Firstly when we spotted the new Bajaj model at the year's beginning, we thought the manufacturer will utilize the same motor implemented on the Duke 250 & Adventure 250. But, they've managed to create a new motor with both air & oil cooling which is a added advantage. Engine is a 249.07cc, 2 valve, SOHC motor churning out 24.5PS & 21.5Nm at 8,750 & 6,500rpm respectively. It is paired to a 5 speed gearbox with the slipper clutch assist. But, we've expected a VVT system very much...Anyways... We can look forward to that on the other product from the brand. Braking duties are handled by 300mm rotor at the front and 230mm rotor at the rear where single channel ABS is offered. Suspension duties by 37mm telescopic forks at the front and new gas charged Nitrox monoshock at the rear. It runs on 100/130 section rubbers (front/rear).
Seat height comes by 795mm. N250 weighs about 162kg and F250 weighs about 164kg which is pretty much decent enough for a semi faired motorbike. F250 is available at 2 color schemes that is racing red and techno grey where the N250 is offered in single color scheme that is techno grey. In the racing red color scheme, everything is finished in red color including the engine cowl and rear quarter panel. Red rim stripe adds some more essence to the the look and the exhaust & pillion grab rails are finished in silver. Overall, the motorbike still looks good even though it misses out some features for reducing the cost and let's wait & watch how these machines performs on the real world.
