• One of the iconic Japanese bike maker Honda has confirmed its plan to enter the blooming electric segment in our country which is likely to happen by the year 2023. According to a report, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India is about to start the possibility runs of its upcoming product with its dealer partners once after the end of festive season.
• After discussing with the parent Honda Motor Company, Japan, HMSI's president, MD and CEO has mentioned that they've decided to enter the electric platform where the other info & specs of the product is yet to be confirmed. It is also mentioned that they're working on the product and the launch of the same will happen within a year.
• As a result of government's incentives towards this platform, many bike makers enters our country's EV market and make investments in developing the better infrastructures. Peoples started to use the electric products for city use and short commutes but vehicles with Internal Combustion Engine still have many advantages over it, said by CEO of the company.
• Though the EVs stays as talk of the town for several years, the required infrastructure for this platform in our country is still in the developing stage. We lack more charging and battery swappable stations as the range anxiety is the only barrier which prevents us from entering the segment. It is also mentioned that definitely for short commuting purpose, our product will be launched surely in the upcoming years.
• While the upcoming product is about to expand the company's product lineups, there are less chances for the transition of already existing Activa or Shine, which is popular a scooter and commuter in our country. The new scooter will be totally different than any other existing model, making it different in the segment and also I believe that the manufacturer will fill their product with more tech & specs also along with a attractive pricing to pull more customers and this'll also helps in boosting the transition rate, I believe.
