The most anticipated & awaited motorbike from the Austrian manufacturer that is the updated RC series is now introduced in our country with the launch of RC 125 & RC 200. The motorbikes are launched with a price tag starting from Rs 1,81,913 & Rs 2,08,717 for RC 125 & RC 200 (ex-showroom) respectively. RC 200's price stays same as before where 125's price is now Rs 2,000 more than that of its predecessor. Bookings were commenced already and the deliveries of the same were expected to begin soon.
Clip-ons are also now raised. But it can also be lowered by 10mm which suits both for relaxed & aggressive riding posture. Single frame piece is now replaced with the help of split type trellis frame with bolted subframe which helps very much in case of any accidents. Suspension duties are handled by WP Apex USD forks & monoshock at the front & rear respectively where the braking duties are handled by 320mm rotor with 4 piston radially mounted Bybre caliper at the front and 230mm rotor with single piston caliper at the rear with supermoto ABS function.
However, powertrain is untouched in both the models. 124.7cc & 199.5cc motors produces about 15PS & 12Nm and 25.8PS & 19.5Nm respectively. But, the size of the airbox is now larger, resulting in crispy throttle response & improved torque parameters. Redesigned fairings also helps in better heat management. Both the models are available in 2 color schemes that is orange + black and orange + white and the graphics has also been updated. As said before, deliveries of the models will commence from the upcoming weeks and the bigger sibling RC 390 is expected to be launched in the upcoming months.
In design wise, both the models looks similar to each other which the manufacturer claims that the design elements has been borrowed from the MotoGP machine which improves the overall aerodynamic efficiency. The major update is done by the design department where the motorbike has undergone a complete makeover. Twin pod projector setup is replaced with a help of single LED setup flanked by the LED DRLs in which the turn indicators are also integrated.
The spied mule consisted a halogen headlamp. But, launched Indian spec model posses a LED headlamp for RC 200 and halogen unit for RC 125. Euro spec model is equipped with TFT instrument console from the 22 KTM RC 390 for the RC 125. But in the case of Indian spec model, both the models gets a LCD instrument console from the already present 250 Adventure with no connectivity features.
The manufacturer has managed to shed more weight from the motorbike, making it lighter. Wheels are now 3.4kg lighter with the help of new 5 spoke alloys, braking system by 960g and with the help of new subframe, it drops weight by another 1.5kg. Another change which I've noticed is the exhaust setup. Euro spec RC 125 is equipped with upswept exhaust like any other motorbikes but in the case of Indian spec model, both the models has received a underbelly exhaust treatment. Fuel tank's capacity comes about 13.7L where its predecessors had a 9.5L tank capacity.
