• When Royal Enfield introduced the 270deg parallel twin motor equipped on the Continental GT and Interceptor, several talks have been wandering throughout the Internet about the production of parallel twin Himalayan. Himalayan is one of the best hard-core off-roader but as per owners, it doesn't perform well on the long stretch.
• Now, BikeWale team has managed to give us some glimpse of the upcoming 650cc off-roader. According to the source, the project began 18 months ago. Firstly, it'll not be launched with a name Himalayan 650. It may get a new name.
• Here, we have to understand several things. 650cc parallel twin motor weighs more than that of the current Himalayan's 411cc motor. So, we can't able to rip the motorbike off the mud & dust like the current Himalayan and so the manufacturer have other different plans.
• Though the upcoming motorbike doesn't going to play as a proper ADV, it'll be offered in two variants for two different platforms such as sports tourer and adventure tourer. Sports tourer will be equipped with the set of alloy wheels where the adventure tourer will get wired spoke rims.
• From this, clearly we can able to understand that the upcoming 650cc offering from the manufacturer will be focused more for the tarmac. As it is going to be a road biased vehicle, we can expect some changes in hardware components including the suspension and frame.
• It is mentioned that the front wheel will be a 19" unit rather than the 21" unit and 80 - 85% of the design elements will stay same as the current Himalayan. Though the bike will be compromised, we can expect a decent amount of ground clearance and new TFT screen with connectivity features.
• It'll also get full fledged ride by wire system, dedicated riding modes and traction control system. The bike is planned to launch around the last quarter of 2024 which is way more long. In between that, we can able to witness some other offerings from the manufacturer.
