• Now, this makes us believe that the unveil of the motorbike is not very far away. There's a talk about this R9 ever since the launch of MT-07 based R7. So, we can expect this upcoming supersport model to be based on the MT-09.

• Ravinder Singh, senior vice president, India Yamaha Motor previously said that "the scope and capacity of our Indian market at this moment doesn't have that kind of volume and maturity to sell big bikes".

• They made it clear that their focus will be on the 150-250cc platform in our country. While the higher capacity segments are being dominated by other manufacturers in our country, Yamaha is likely to re-enter this platform with a bang of a crossplane motor.

• If the manufacturer is about to really introduce the supersport model, it'll be based on the naked street fighter MT-09 which uses a 889cc, in-line 3 cylinder, crossplane motor churning out 119PS & 93Nm at 10,000 & 7,000rpm respectively.

• The engine will be mated to a 6 speed transmission system with slipper clutch assist and quickshifter. The design elements of the motorbike could be similar to that of the R7 including the front end.

• Or who knows what the Japanese manufacturer is up to. They may also launch the motorbike with a unique design elements which differentiate this model from the others.

• Still its not sure that the manufacturer will introduce this model in our country or not. But if introduced, it'll compete against the other models in the segment such as ZX-10R and other faired supersports.
