As we know, electric vehicle segment is blooming up in our country. Recently, one of the leading E-bike manufacturer Revolt Motors also hooked up with Domino's pizza for delivery purpose. Now, TVS is coming up with big plans to launch more EVs in the market. The manufacturer is investing a large amount that is 10 million for electric vehicles development and manufacturing. Already they have a E scooter named iQube which have a decent amount of specs and range.
TVS Motor Company said that, they've been working on electric segment from last decade. With the investment of 10 million, they're trying to make a separate image on this platform which includes all segments like delivery, scooters, daily commuters, sports machine and also 3 wheelers. We also saw a new TVS scooter named Creon which is unveiled at 2018 auto expo yet to be launched. While their iQube is already in market, upcoming months are going to witness the new range of electric motorbikes and scooter from TVS Motor Company where the power output ranges from 5 to 25kW.
Even though the company is yet to announce about this new platform, Mr. Sudarshan Venu, TVS Motor Company's joint managing director spoke about the new plans and ideas to develop their electric two wheelers across the country on their social media channels. He's mentored by Mr. Ralf Speth, former Jaguar Land Rover CEO. On his future plans, Mr. Sudarshan Venu said that they want to develop more and interested in playing a leading role in the electric segment.
The new team around 600 engineers were working on number of products about various segments to meet the demand in the markets. The vehicles which is developed is not only going to sold in India but globally which is very much welcomed. He said, development of batteries in our country itself is going to reduce the battery price in the upcoming future which is going to make electric vehicle segment a bright one. He also mentioned that the development center only is not going to support the EVs but the state governments which have to help the people to get more impact on EVs.
The two major obstacle that he says is the immediate development of charging stations to adopt to the new eco system and the development of batteries in our country to reduce the overall cost of the vehicle. He said that the company is working towards that and looking for partnerships to develop the charging stations across the country.
