Different types of line in roads

While cruising down in a highway, we may have noticed many types of lines which is painted on the road. Who cares about that... All of us are concentrating in reaching our destination within the time. By doing this, we also fails to notice small things which ends up in accidents. Even today, if you see any traffic signals, most of the motorbikes filter through the traffic and stops just after the white line in the signal. Though everyone is educated, we fails to follow some small rules. Even though it doesn't matter, not following it makes no meaning for our education. In my town, even though there's a red signal, no one cares and if one motorbike crosses the signal, everyone follows it thereby none of them watches or follows the signal. Its very much important to follow the traffic signs and rules which ensures ours and others safety. Today in this post, we are going to see something about the line which is painted on the roads.

Broken white line

In our country highways, these type of lines are widespread and we can able to see it everywhere. This broken white line allows us to overtake, change lanes and to take a U-turn. But we have to make sure that we are clear on our all directions before performing all the above mentioned actions.

Continuous white line

When the road is painted with this continuous white lines, we are not allowed to overtake and to take a U-turn. But, we are allowed to change the lanes or to cross the lines to avoid accidents or to take a turn. In most of the hill stations and in mountain roads, we can able to see this type of continuous white line.

Broken yellow line

Its somewhat similar to the broken white line where we are allowed to overtake, change lanes and to take a U-turn only if our sightline is clear.

Continuous yellow line

In this type of line, we are allowed to overtake only if when we are on our side. Crossing the line isn't permitted for both the sides. These type of lines are used in low visibility regions which helps us to maintain on our side.

Double continuous yellow line

This one may be the strictest one of all. In this type of line, we are strictly not allowed to overtake, change lanes and to overtake. This type is seen in very dangerous two lane roads to avoid accidents.

Rumble strip

Surely everyone travelled in a highway must have experienced this. These lines are present to alert the driver or rider by causing a rumbling sound or small vibration when we pass through it.
