eBikeGo, one of our country's e-bike rental platform has launched its new e-scooter named Rugged. But, this model looks like a moped for me and also much purposeful. It is launched with the two variants namely G1 & G1+. G1 variant starts from Rs 85,000 and G1+ from Rs 1,04,999 where both the price are ex showroom. The price will become cheaper when additional benefits from the government subsidies are included. Pre bookings of the vehicle can be done on the official website at a token amount of Rs 499 followed by the deliveries at the month of November.
The only difference in both the variants is the range of coverage. G1 variant covers about 80km per single charge and G1+ about 160kms. This is possible due to the addition of a second battery pack. The motor is a BLDC hub mounted type which gives a peak power of 3kW. It also gets a IP67 rating for the motor which protects the motor from water and dust and its very much required for the vehicles with the hub motor. With single driver, the vehicle can overcome the gradeability about 16 degrees which is pretty much decent.
The battery pack is Li-ion with swappable option and comes with a capacity of 1.9kWh. The battery can be charged fully in about 4 hours. It also gets a 50L under seat storage space. Anchoring jobs are done by the discs at both the end assisted by a Combined Braking System known as CBS or IBS. Unlike any other scooters, it gets leading link type suspension at the front and twin shocks with 4 point adjustable option at the rear. Headlamp, tail lamp and turn indicators are all LEDs and also the vehicle comes with the single outlet USB socket.
All the components are fitted in the company's unique V shaped high strength steel frame. The motor is also manufactured in our country itself which is capable of propelling the vehicle up to 75kmph. The instrument cluster is a fully digital unit with connectivity features which displays various info like odo, speedo, battery percentage, battery voltage, motor temperature and so on. From the mobile itself we can able to turn on the vehicle. Other features also includes charge monitoring, performance monitoring, service record, anti theft system, location info and navigation system which can be accessed through the Rugged app.
The manufacturer also provides 7 years of chassis warranty, overall warranty of 3 years and 20,000kms of standard warranty which is very much welcomed. It'll be available in all the cities and we can pre book via the official website and through the offline experience centres. The experience centres will be available in 9 states and in the upcoming months, 3,000+ charging stations were planned all over the country. This scooter is about to change the face of e-mobility and it'll push the limits of innovation in this category, said by the company's founder and CEO, eBikeGo.
