Recently, KTM is overhauling the RC lineups and as we know, the 390RC is already unveiled. Now, based on the supersport 390, the 200 and 125cc version of the same is unveiled officially and shares most of the parts with the 390. Though we don't know the exact launch dates of these upcoming models, we can expect them to make its presence officially by this year end or by early 22.
To begin with, both the motorbike's design are inspired from MotoGP styling with the new frame. Ergonomics are also improved for better handling. Bodyworks of both the models has been redesigned to improve the overall aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle which also looks similar to the 390RC. RC 125 gets a conventional upswept exhaust where RC 200 gets a underbelly exhaust. Both the machine's color options are similar to one another. First one is black + orange and the other one is white + orange. Wheels and sub-frame are painted with the traditional KTM orange in both the models. Like in the 390RC, new redesigned fairings helps very much in managing the heat better.
Speaking of the instrument console, the smaller sibling gets a new TFT dash like on the 390 Duke. But, the RC 200 gets the same LCD dash on the 250 Adventure. RC 125 gets a LED headlamp unit where the RC 200 gets a halogen unit. These motorbikes while making its way to our country, we can't expect all these above mentioned features. Some of them may not be present to make these machines more affordable in our country.
The new redesigned frame with a bolted sub frame is 1.5kg lighter than the previous models and it is said that this new frame provides even better control and handling at the higher speeds. Braking duties in both the models are done by the 320mm disc with 4 piston radial mounted Bybre caliper at the front and a 230mm disc with the single piston caliper at the rear where dual channel ABS comes as a standard one. WP apex shock absorbers are present at both the ends. Clip-on is now adjustable either for relaxed riding position or for aggressive lowered riding position.
Powering the RC 125 is a 125cc single cylinder, LC, DOHC engine which is capable of churning out 20.1hp and 12Nm of peak torque. RC 200 is powered by a 199.5cc single cylinder, LC, DOHC engine which is capable of generating 25.47hp and 19.5Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are synced to a 6 speed transmission system and also have the same 13.7L fuel tank capacity. In both the models, ECUs have been remapped and the size of the air box is also increased to squeeze out extra ponies and torque from the motor.
Like the 390RC, both the models lost some weight compared to that of the ongoing model with the help of a new 5 spoke alloys and the redesigned frame. Mirror mounted indicators are now replaced by the fairing mounted one in which its just integrated with the LED DRLs. As said previously, after making its global debut by the upcoming months, we can expect these machines in our country by this year end or by early 22.
