It looks like the updated version is about to receive a new fully digital instrument cluster. Anyways, there's no word about the connectivity features...
Few month before, there were a talk like Piaggio is working on the updated version of the Aprilia SR 160. Now, a new product from the manufacturer has been spotted testing which is none other than the SR 160. In the past few years, Aprilia's scooters has started to gain up more place in the market where the lineup also includes a range of maxi-scooters. The SR range of scooters didn't undergo any major update since its launch which happened few years back. Its the right time for the manufacturer to update the products in the growing 125 & 160cc segment. Anyways... There's no surety that the spied scooter is the SR 160. There are also chances for the spied scooter to be the SR 125. If the manufacturer is about to update its scooter offerings, SR 125 will also undergo the same for sure.
Already present SXR maxi-scooter features a fully digital instrument cluster where the SR models tends to use the semi digital instrument cluster. Now, the spied scooter which is spotted testing is fabricated with the fully digital instrument cluster. Though its still not clear that which model is spied testing, we can expect this to be first implemented on the SR 160 followed by the 125. If the manufacturer is smart enough, they'll also accommodate the connectivity features with it.
We can expect a digital odometer, trip meters, real time fuel consumption, top speed recorder etc.. Though the rear end of the scooter is only visible, we can't say much only by looking at it. I guess the manufacturer will introduce the new color schemes along with the updated graphics. Wheels and other body works seems to be retracted from the current version.
Propelling the SR 125 is a 124.49cc producing about 9.4bhp & 9.9Nm of peak torque at 7,250rpm & 6,250rpm respectively. Anchoring jobs are done by 220mm disc up front and 140mm drum setup at the rear. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic & monoshock at the front & rear. SR 160 is powered by a 160cc, 3 valve motor producing about 10.7bhp & 11.6Nm of torque at 7,600 & 6,000rpm respectively. Braking & suspension duties are also handled by the combo of telescopic & monoshock and disc & drum at both the ends respectively. Now with the addition of a new digital instrument cluster, we can expect a price hike about Rs 5,000 and also we can expect to be launched in the upcoming festive season.
