TVS Apache RTR 165 RP name trademarked

Recently, TVS has trademarked two names that is TVS RP Race Performance and TVS Apache RTR 165 RP. Already we know that Apache series of motorbikes from TVS are meant for its performance which includes Apache RTR 160, RTR 160 4V, RTR 200 4V, RR310 and RTR 180. According to me, all these motorcycles are well known for its performance and gets a reasonable price. While providing us with the daily commuters and sporty machines, the manufacturer also never failed to focus on the racing division.

Now, this new trademarked names makes us confused and also left us in a excitement. Surely we don't know what TVS is cooking on their plants out there for the budding racers and enthusiasts. So, let's discuss about what it could be and about my expectations. First thing which I've noticed is the name Race Performance RP. Why it could not be a branch under the manufacturer. Why it can't be a separate division?? These are my thoughts flying inside my mind after seeing the news.

TVS Apache RTR 165 RP name trademarked

Recently, TVS has updated its flagship motorcycle RR310 which received two performance kits. These kits will be very much helpful for those who likes to lean the motorbike very hard around the corners. If the name RP is going to be a new division under the manufacturer, surely we're going to witness the most powerful motor for redlining at the tracks. Both the trademarked names are under the review and if it gets approved, we can expect an official announcement from the manufacturer.

My guess is, this new RP variant will get a race fairing to improve the overall aerodynamic efficiency of the motorcycle. As the name tells, we can expect a big bore kit as the displacement of the both RTR 160 & RTR 160 4V is 159.7cc. The only difference is the valves per cylinder where the 160 4V uses 4 valves and the normal version uses 2 valves. Both the engine is capable of producing 15.53 PS at 8400rpm & 13.9Nm of torque at 7000rpm and 17.63 PS at 9250rpm & 14.73Nm at 7250rpm respectively. Surely... More breathing of the engine results in more power output.

Also we can expect a 4 valve arrangement for better breathing efficiency of the engine. As the engine is going to be tuned, we can expect even more ponies from the engine and my guess is, it'll range somewhere around 18.5 PS. Other than that, we can also expect a track based ergo on this one. To begin with, it'll get a lowered clip-on, repositioned foot pegs, redesigned muffler & body works, tuned suspension system along with the braking system and of course a tuned engine. We can also expect some weight reduction to make it even more faster around the tracks.

If really TVS is working on a separate sub brand, surely we are about to witness more sportier machines and sportier versions of the already present models. But as I mentioned previously, if a name is trademarked, its not like the manufacturer have to release the same compulsorily. They may have trademarked to save the name for the future purpose or who knows, the manufacturer may also have finished building the prototype and gearing up for testing. Just a guess....
