Yamaha had recently launched the Aerox 155, a sports styled maxi scooter which is heavily based on the already present YZF R15. After its launch, it became the most powerful scooter in our country and now to beat that record, BMW Motorrad has announced the launch of C 400 GT, which is also a maxi scooter starting from Rs 9,95,000 ex-showroom India. The price is too high for a mid range scooter in our country.
Front end gets a 35mm telescopic forks and twin struts with preload adjustable hooked to a double sided aluminium swingarm at the rear. Braking duties are handled by twin 265mm discs with 4 piston calipers at the front and 265mm disc with single piston caliper at the rear assisted by ABS. Seat height comes about 775mm and the fuel tank capacity is 12.8L which is pretty much decent. Top of the line, it also gets a keyless ignition system which is very much helpful. The scooter rolls with the help of 15" & 14" wheels (front/rear).
Other key features include BMW Motorrad connectivity with 6.5" TFT color display for navigation assist and responding to phone calls. Heated seat along with the grip, anti theft alarm and LED DRL comes as an optional equipment where, luggage carrier, low seat with 760mm, mobile holder, dual USB charging socket, multiple wind screens are all comes as an accessory.
In design wise, it do look like a big motorbike with its massive appearance. Front end gets a sharp looking LED headlamp set-up. Rear seat gets a step-up treatment. Exhaust set-up also looks like the one from the motorbike. The scooter is offered in 2 color schemes such as alpine white 3 and style triple black where the later gets a GT logo at the rear panel. Tall windscreen aslo comes as part of the plan.
Front storage compartment is integrated with the USB charging socket. Coming to the engine, it is a single cylinder, 350cc, LC, 4V/C unit churning out 34PS & 35Nm of power & torque at 7,500rpm & 5,750rpm respectively. The whole lot of power is controlled by a full fledged ride by wire system or electronic throttle control. The manufacturer claims that the scooter is capable of doing a top speed about 139kmph. But I think cruising with a speed of 120kmph would not be a problem without much struggle.
