In the process of introducing the BS-VI compliant products in our country, the manufacturer has now announced the launch of new Street Scrambler. The motorbike's price starts from Rs 9,35,000 ex-showroom India. As the bookings were commenced, deliveries were expected to start after a couple of weeks.
Suspension duties are handled by 41mm telescopic forks at the front and twin struts with preload adjustable comes at the rear. Braking duties are done by 310mm disc clamped by 4 piston Brembo caliper at the front and 255mm disc with 2 piston Nissin caliper at the rear assisted by dual channel ABS. Seat height comes with 790mm and the fuel tank capacity is 12L. All together weighs the motorbike about 223kg dry.
Steering head is equipped with single analog dial for speedometer and small LCD multifunction display for showing various info like trip meters, odometer, clock etc.. It rolls with the help of 19"/17" (front/rear) wired spoke rims wrapped with Metzeler Tourance rubbers. Other electronics includes switchable ABS & traction control, ride by wire tech and 3 riding modes such as road, rain and off-road. USB charging socket is also included. Customisation can be done with the help of 120 genuine accessories and the motorbike is offered in 3 color schemes such as urban grey, matt khaki and jet black.
It do look like a perfect scrambler type of motorbike with the design elements matching the same. It gets a tear drop shaped fuel tank, round headlamp with the rear view mirrors and oval shaped tail lamp with the turn indicators. The exhaust is packed neatly on the right side, incorporating the original scrambler DNA. The exhaust is also perfectly shielded which prevents our legs from frying. It also contains minimalistic body works with simple seat assembly where the rear is raised slightly. Handlebar is raised and also its wide. Along with the centre set footpegs, it gives the rider a upright riding posture with comfortable ergonomics suitable for heavy scrambling across the mud & dust along with the provided engine bash plate.
Coming to the engine, it is a 900cc parallel twin, LC, 4V/C, SOHC motor with 270deg crank angle which is capable of producing 65PS & 80Nm of peak power & torque at 7,250rpm and 3,250rpm respectively. Peak torque is tuned to achieve at the mid-range itself which is very much essential for off-roading purpose. The engine is paired to a 5 speed gearbox and all other chassis components including the engine is mounted on a tubular steel type double cradle frame.
