After rolling the motorbike multiple times for the test run, Kawasaki India has finally announced the launch of new retro roadster Z650RS in our country which is iterated from the Z650, priced at Rs 6,65,000 ex-showroom. It is available at 2 color schemes that is candy emerald lime green and metallic moondust gray. The product unveiled globally by September 28 and it is one of the most anticipated model from the Japanese brand.
This motorbike stands down as a model for the retro lovers who also expects modern techs & stuffs underneath it. To begin with, it gets a teardrop shaped elongated fuel tank with the simple single piece seat. Side body panels too looks simple and the graphics on the fuel tank along with the chrome bezels on the instrument cluster and headlamp remembers the retro culture. Candy emerald lime green color scheme's alloys gets a golden treatment which perfectly matches with the green color.
Things like underbelly exhaust and full LED lightings remembers that the motorbike belongs to the modern culture. Round shaped headlamp, rear view mirrors and instrument cluster adds some more essence to the retro feel. But what I've expected is a chrome double sided exhaust assembly which is much needed for a modern retro roadster. Anyways...
As the motor is borrowed from the other 650cc products, it is the same 649cc, LC, DOHC, 4V/C, parallel twin motor spitting out 68PS & 64Nm at 8,000 and 6,700rpm respectively. The engine is paired to a 6 speed gearbox with slipper clutch assist. The engine is packed on a high tensile steel trellis frame suspended with the help of 41mm telescopic forks at the front and preload adjustable monoshock at the rear.
Placed before the raised handle setup is the twin analog dials for both tachometer and speedometer. There's also a small LCD multifunction display for various info like fuel level, gear position and trip meters. Braking duties are handled by dual 300mm discs with dual piston calipers at the front and single 220mm disc rotor with single piston caliper at the rear and gets assisted by BOSCH ABS program. The motorbike weighs about 192kg and the fuel tank capacity is 12L.
