Ducati has unveiled the new performance oriented Pikes Peak version of the Multistrada V4 at the Ducati world premiere episode 3. This variant now possess a sportier personality of the flagship adventure tourer.
What's new?
This variant gets a 17" front rims instead of the 19" unit on the standard model. Other changes were made on the chassis setup and ergonomics. Marchesini forged aluminium rims are now 2.7kg lighter than the V4 S and the overall weight has been reduced by 4kg. To compensate the new wheel size, steering geometry has been revised as the rake angle is 25.75deg instead of 24.5deg.
Braking components has also been upgraded. It gets a twin 330mm disc rotors at the front along with the Brembo Stylema calipers which is borrowed from the V4 S. What matters here is the race oriented pads which is borrowed from the Panigale V4. Double sided swingarm has been replaced with the help of single sided setup which is also first on a Multistrada V4.
Riding posture has also been revised for more sporty stance with the help of higher & rearset footpegs and lower & narrower handlebar. Engine does remains the same but here comes a road legal titanium & carbon Akrapovic exhaust system and a new Race riding mode which is also first for the Multistrada family.
The motorbike is propelled by a same 1,158cc V4 Granturismo engine producing about 170hp at 10,500rpm and 125Nm of peak torque at 8,750rpm. It is paired to a 6 speed transmission system along with a slipper clutch. Other safety equipment includes ABS with cornering function, traction control, wheelie control and vehicle hold control.
Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 electronic suspension, quickshifter, cruise control, CF front fender and 6.5" TFT color display also comes as part of the plan. Launch details for our country is not yet available. But, we can expect the manufacturer to launch this variant sometime by the next year while the official announcement is yet to be made.
