Langen Two Stroke - Crazy 2 stroke bonker

• Its been decades when we finally saw the road legal 2 stroke motorcycles. Due to the strict emission norms, 2 stroke models were discontinued but compared to the conventional 4 stroke IC engines, 2 stroke motors spitted more power at the same time of emitting more pollutants.

• I came to know about this masterpiece on the YouTube and decided to include this in the Retrosters category because it do look like a retro machine with Cafe Racer design elements and modern electronics underneath it. Let's start with the design elements.

• Clip-ons are mounted below the top yoke and single dial instrument cluster is fabricated on the round shaped headlamp unit itself which is a LED unit and it reminds something of the old school. Tachometer is analog and other details are displayed on a small LCD display. Elongated fuel tank, simple single piece seat, perfectly matching rear cowl with no body panels adds some more essence to the Cafe Racer look of the motorbike.

• Actually it has got two chamber exhaust one below the rear seat cowl and other one on the right side which is upswept. Because, the motor is a twin cylinder unit.... yeah... This motor is sourced from the company which is known for 2 stroke track machines named Vins Motors, a Italian company.

• Engine is a 249.5cc, 2 stroke, 90deg V twin cylinder, fuel & oil injected unit which produces a max power & torque of 75PS & 45Nm at 11,700rpm. For reference, KTM's 250cc motor produces about 29.9PS & 24Nm. The engine is paired to a 6 speed transmission system. There's no modern electronics such as dedicated riding modes or traction control or quickshifter. It's only about the raw power.

• Engine is stuffed inside a aluminum space frame. Fuel tank and bodyworks are made up of carbon fiber. All together weighs the motorbike only about 114kg and the manufacturer claims that the motorbike is capable of doing more than 140mph that is 225kmph.. Stunning... Isn't it?

• If you notice clearly, you can see some difference near the engine area. 90deg V twin motor is mounted in a forward facing position to allow the direct routing for airflow in and out of the engine. It looks similar to the reverse inclined engine set-up but it's not the same one here.

• Reed valves are responsible for the fuel air mixture getting sucked inside the combustion chamber. Those reed valves are also made of carbon fiber and the oil required for the lubrication purpose is directly injected into the crankcase from a separate reservoir which is present below the fuel tank cover. This is done with the help of patented oil injection system where the ECU controls the amount of oil & fuel injected for the given RPM.

• Braking duties are handled by 320mm twin disc rotors with HEL radial calipers at the front and 265mm disc rotor with the same HEL radial caliper at the rear. Of course, more braking power is required for something this agile.

• Suspension duties by 43mm RWU forks from Ohlins at the front which is adjustable for compression, rebound damping and spring preload. Twin KTech shocks at the rear which is again adjustable for length, spring preload, compression and rebound damping.

• Wheels are wired spoke units wrapped with Dunlop Classic TT100 GP radial rubbers. Overall, this motorbike costs more than the supersports and hypersports available at our market right now and this model is only homologated for the United Kingdom as it is limited only to 100 units. But its nothing wrong to know something about this masterpiece.
