Kawasaki Z650RS teased

Couple of days before, Kawasaki gave us the glimpse of their new upcoming motorbike by releasing a teaser video. What we could able to see in that video is a round shaped rear view mirrors. This tells us that its going to be a retro themed motorbike and a tagline "Retrovolution is coming" is added at the end of the teaser. A model named Z900RS is already present in other countries which is a retro themed motorbike where it shares much of the components with the Z900.

The teased motorbike could not be a other iteration of the Z900RS because it received a special edition recently. The possibilities for the next gen W800 is also very less. When Kawasaki introduced the Z900RS in the year 2017, much talks were present wide spread over the internet that the retro version of the Z650 is also on the works. The Z900RS is well received in the markets where it also got a Cafe Racer treatment.

So, the teased motorbike could be a Z650RS as per the sources. But what I'm thinking is why it could not be a middle weight motorbike which comes under W category. Why could not be a W650? Anyways....As per some sources, it could be a Z650RS. Let's see... The teaser also slightly reveals the twin pod instrument cluster. Probably one for the analog tacho and other for the speedo.

Z650RS is likely to share its design elements with its elder sibling Z900RS. To begin with, the motorbike features a tear drop shaped fuel tank, twin pod instrument cluster, circular headlamp and circular rear view mirrors. The seat is also a single piece one. The motorbike gives the perfect retro look with minimal body panels exposing the frame. The rear tail lamp fender also remembers the old school.

The powertrain will be shared with the Z650. The motor is a 649cc, liquid cooled, parallel twin, DOHC arrangement which is capable of producing 68PS of power at 8,000rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 6,700rpm. Though its going to be a retro themed motorbike, we can expect the manufacturer to detune the engine. As most of us started to go towards the retro culture, we can expect this motorbike to enter our markets after making its global debut which is about to happen in the upcoming months. If the sales were good as expected, there are also chances for the manufacturer to launch the 900cc version and the cafe racer version of the same.
