The most popular adventure sports tourer now joins the Multistrada family in its new V2 avatar.
Few days before, Ducati has announced that the new & updated models for the upcoming year will be revealed starting from now till the month of December and the process starts with the entry of new Multistrada under a tagline "your everyday wonder". This new model replaces the existing 950 and now built on the same platform which the new Monster and SuperSport has utilized.
In design wise, it borrows some of the elements from the Multistrada V4 and also looks fresh in the other perspective. The machine is offered in two variants namely standard and S. Standard V2 is offered in single color option that is Ducati red and the later is offered in two color options such as Ducati red and street grey. In Ducati red color scheme, the body work is done in red color where every other things are all in black. In the street grey color scheme, body work is done grey in color where the rims are finished with GP Red.
It retains the design elements with dual nostrils along with the full LED headlamp. But the headlamp cowl now looks more tapered where the aerodynamics is also refined. Gearbox has also been updated. Other thing to notice here is the 19" wheel up front. Exhaust is upswept and other than that, everything looks similar to that of the 950. With the help of redesigned new rims inspired from the V4 and redesigned internal components, it is now lighter by 5g.
Powering the motorbike is a 937cc Testastretta, LC, 4V/C, L-twin, Desmo motor producing about 113hp and 96Nm of peak torque at 9,000 and 7,750rpm respectively. The whole lot of ponies are controlled by the fully fledged ride by wire system. Engine is linked to a 6 speed transmission system with slipper clutch. V2 S also gets a quickshifter.
Coming to the hardware, front end is equipped with 48mm USD forks which is fully adjustable and fully adjustable monoshock at the rear with remote spring preload adjustment in the standard variant. S trim is nourished with Ducati Skyhook EVO semi-active suspension system both up front and back. Both the variants gets light alloy cast 19"/17" in front and rear which is wrapped with Pirelli rubbers.
In both the models, braking duties are handled by twin 320mm rotors clamped by the radially mounted Brembo 4 piston caliper along with the radial master cylinder in the front and 265mm disc with 2 piston Brembo caliper at the rear with cornering function.
Standard trim is equipped with LCD display where the S variant gets 5" TFT color display. Both the trims gets traction control, riding modes, power modes, hold control where the S variant gets extra cornering lights, cruise control and Ducati Skyhook EVO semi-active suspension system as mentioned previously. Multimedia system, tyre pressure monitoring system and antitheft system are offered as an accessory. Standard & S variant weighs about 222kg & 225kg respectively where the fuel tank capacity is about 20L. It is said that the motorbike will be available for sales from the month of November and soon we can also expect this machine in our country in the upcoming months.
