Last week, Bajaj Auto has announced the launch of two new motorcycles in the 250cc segment named as N250 and F250. After the launch event, many other media channels posted a video on walkaround and exhaust note of the motorbike where I can able to see a lot of negative comments in the comment section. I don't know why people just can't accept what they get from the manufacturer and why they fails to understand about the cost to offering ratio.
First of all, we have to think million times before telling a negative comment about a motorbike. Anyone can talk shit about the newly launched models. But, only few of them just admire the model and understand the reason behind the design and performance factors. We are in a generation where everyone needs a 6 speed gearbox, modern electronics, slipper clutch, Upside Down forks, dual channel ABS, alloy rims, more power, liquid cooling system and so on. But, they fails to know the working of each and every components they demand. According to me, one should demand more things only if they know about the things they need deeply.
For example, oil cooling system is a added advantage to a motorbike I'd say because, the engine oil itself absorbs the heat produced due to the combustion process and cools with the help of radiator and in addition to that, fins present all over the block too carries away the heat produced. In the liquid cooling system, separate coolant passages will be present around the combustion chamber in which the coolant carries away the heat produced and the engine is totally sealed. If anything goes wrong in this system, there are chances for the engine seizure which lumps a lot of money from your pocket if it happens. But in the oil cooing system, the chances are very less due to the presence of very less number of components and it is a added advantage.
Like this, there are many other things for example dual channel ABS system. I know the rider's safety is very much important. The newly launched Pulsar models have a single channel ABS function. I own a 2017 Bajaj Pulsar 200NS which is a non ABS model and it doesn't created me any problems. What I'm trying to say is, single channel ABS itself is more than enough if you know how to brake effectively. The braking efficiency purely depends on the components utilized for the total system. Here this time, Bajaj has gone for Grimeca calipers instead of Bybre which is new to us. We can tell about the braking performance of the vehicle only after riding it. Giving a negative comment that the bike misses out dual channel ABS system doesn't make any sense.
Another thing which we have to understand about is the cost of the vehicle. For example, if you go for a bike loaded with more tech & stuffs, surely it'll cost more where the price of the motorbikes are increasing day by day. If the manufacturer launches a motorbike with a affordable price, surely it'll contain only a required features and stuffs which makes the motorbike affordable. If you need a motorbike meant for more tech & stuffs you can go for other models which also asks more money. This is what happens in the mobile phone markets too. Feature phones are meant only for basic features such as camera, notes, calls, messaging, music etc... which is made for senior citizens and minimalists. But people talks shit about the phone and demands other features such as Facebook and WhatsApp. I hope you understand it. Is this our problem or manufacturer's problem?
Few days before, there's much talk on the Internet that the upcoming Pulsar series are likely about to get a Variable Valve Timing mechanism on it. But, it doesn't happened. Coming to the powertrain, Bajaj offered us a 2V, oil cooled, SOHC, double spark motor churning out 24.5PS and 21.5Nm. In the comment sections of various videos, I saw everyone commenting about the same where they expects a 4V/C, LC, 6 speed motor. One thing we have to understand here. It is not a KTM derived motor like the NS and RS200. According to me, 6th gear is not much necessary if the power band and gear ratios of the motorbike are perfectly well balanced. Comparing to the NS200, Pulsar 250 produces more torque where the NS200 produces about 18.5Nm. Manufacturer has managed to achieve this with a 2 valve set-up itself which should be appreciated.
Even the Classic 350 have a 2 valve & 5 speed motor and the Ducati Scrambler models use a 2 valve set-up. It isn't about the implementation of 4 valve head. But its about the art of tuning the engine for max speed or mileage. None of them notices that and everyone goes after it only due to the popularity of the motorbike. This is the biggest problem in our country I'd say where people fails to notice and understand the reason behind each and every parameters and just buying a model only due to its popularity and by other's recommendation. They fails to explore each & every models in a segment. Like I said previously, each & every motorbike from various manufacturers are designed & developed after putting in lot of efforts and struggles faced by many workers. Before talking anything negative about a motorbike, we have to understand the total system behind it and have to understand completely about the system which we are talking about.
Coming to the design, I prefer the design of the F250 than that of N250. All other chassis, engine and hardware components stays same in both the models. Each & everyone is customized differently and everyone have their own taste. Some of them like the design of the F and some of the N. But my thought is like, if the reverse boomerang LED DRLs are not present, then the overall look of the motorbike should've gone high and y'all know that personally I love the Pulsar AS200 and its very good to see that the design is similar to that of the AS200. Overall, the motorbike looks like its worth for money I'd say and eagerly waiting to swing to my leg around it. And I hope you'll get the point what I'm trying to say in the whole article.
