• At the final episode of the Ducati World Premiere, the bike maker has unveiled the new retro themed adventure motorbike named DesertX. As we all know, two segments reached a hit like anything these days which is none other than a retro and adventure segment. The bike maker has beautifully synced both the parameters and fabricated this machine.
• The motorbike gets a retro themed Dakar styled adventure fairing with the twin pod LED headlamp units integrated with LED DRL rings. The silhouette on the taller windscreen looks cool and the handlebar is also equipped with knuckle guards. Sump guard is massive and it covers the maximum lower part which is much required for the bike's nature.
• Fuel tank is extended by a simple seat assembly with minimalistic body panels. Exhaust is upswept and the pillion grab rail is neatly integrated with the sub-frame itself. Front mudguard also covers the fork assembly to protect it from all that mud & dust to prevent the fork seal.
• Powering the motorbike is a 937cc, Testastretta, L-Twin cylinder, 4V/C, Desmo motor churning out 110hp & 92Nm of peak power & torque at 9,250 & 6,500 rpm respectively. This is the same motor from the Multistrada V2 but it is now 2kg lighter. Ducati has also altered the gear ratios by shortening it for better off-roading. It is paired to a 6 speed gearbox with slipper clutch assist.
• The motor is stuffed inside a newly developed steel trellis frame which is suspended on a 46mm fully adjustable USD forks and fully adjustable monoshock with remote preload adjustment hooked with double sided swingarm at the rear. Both the units are from Kayaba (long travel) and attached to 21" and 18" wheels wrapped with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR rubbers.
• Anchoring duties are handled by dual 320mm disc rotors with radially mounted 4 piston Brembo calipers at the front and 265mm disc rotor with 2 piston caliper at the rear assisted by Bosch Cornering ABS. With the seat height of 875mm, the rider triangle is perfectly designed for comforting the rider at both standing and sitting position. As a result of long travel suspension, there's a massive amount of ground clearance 250mm.
• The motorbike weighs 202kg dry and the fuel tank's capacity is 21L. There's also a option for an extra 8L gas tank at the rear which increases the overall range by another 150km. The transfer of fuel from the rear to the main tank is automatically suggested to the rider through the instrument cluster which can be easily activated through the handlebar controls.
• Staying true to the modern electronics, it gets 6 riding modes and 4 power modes, traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control, bi-directional quickshifter and cruise control. It also gets a steering damper and present behind the windscreen is a 5" TFT dash with connectivity features.
• Other things like multimedia system, antitheft system, heated grips and fog lights are all offered as accessories. It is expected that the motorbike will be available from the first half of 22 and the launch of the model in India is not going to happen very soon.
