In this article, we're going to see about two machines which Yamaha has lined up for the launch. This year, the Japanese manufacturer has rolled out FZ-X, Fascino hybrid, FZ-25 MotoGP edition and MT-15 MotoGP edition. But it doesn't stops here. So far we know, the company is yet to launch the other two models. In this post, let's see something about the both.
Aerox
Recently, we've see about BMW's maxi scooter. Maxi scooters are nothing but a bigger version of the scooters. In that post, I've mentioned that our country has started to receive maxi scooters and already we have some in the markets like Burgman Street and SXR 160. Now, the Japanese manufacturer also plans to enter the segment by launching their product named Aerox. In other markets, this scooter is already present and it is believed that the scooter will enter into our market with a name Aerox. Who knows... While we all believed that the Hornet based ADV is going to be called as NX200, the manufacturer launched it with a name CB200X.
To begin with, this scooter shares the same engine with its naked and faired siblings named MT-15 and R15. Yes.... This scooter will have the same 155cc motor from the R15. This new scooter is expected to be launched in the festive season most likely in this Diwali. This scooter is already present in some south east Asian markets such as Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand. But, the engine will be detuned where it is expected to spit out power somewhere around 15PS. In addition to that, it also likely to get a Smart Motor Generator (SMG) just like the Fascino.
Front end of the scooter gets telescopic forks where the rear end gets twin struts which is also a gas charged one. For decelerating the vehicle, discs at the front and a drum brake system at the rear will be utilized. Wheels used here is a 14 inch unit which is well and good for the maxi segment. Both the ends of the vehicle gets LED lightings. The LCD instrument cluster will get a connectivity feature as it display various information like the current R15. But, we have to think about several things here. If really this scoter is going to be launched, surely it'll face major complexity. As it is going to use the same engine as the R15, liquid cooling system comes as a part of the plan. Manufacturer has to play a important role here in cooling the engine by placing the radiator in a perfect place where the air flow and coolant line should not become a problem. Another thing which we have to notice is the transmission system. CVT must be a only solution but it'll be a whole new level when we fix a motorbike's engine in a scooter and tuning it according to that. I also heard that the engine will be manufactured by Yamaha Indonesia. So, we can expect this scooter to hit the market with a high price tag. But, it's on the manufacturer's hands that how they'll decide the price for our markets to make this scooter a heavy competitor for Burgman Street, SXR 160 etc...

As we all know few days before, two development mules were spotted testing which looks similar to the current R15 V3 consisting a headlamp setup inspired from R7. But still now we don't know clearly that what it could be. It may be a R15 V4 or R25 or the next generation R3. The manufacturer uses M tag for their performance oriented standard bikes. So, there are also chances for the spied version which could be a R15M. But few days before, Yamaha has trade marked a name R2. This new M tag along with the name R15 now looks much reasonable. The spied motorbike is equipped with USDs and a redesigned front end where the conventional dual LED setup is replaced by a single projector setup. If it is going to be a sportier version of the R15, we can expect even more power output and some additional features.
