What it could be? Raider 125 or Retron 125 or Fiero 125?
As per many sources, TVS is about to launch a new motorcycle in the 125cc segment. Previously, TVS had some motorcycles in the 125cc segment but the models were discontinued due to some reasons. Now back into the game, TVS has released some new teasers, exposing the motorbike & slightly giving us the glimpse of the same. The motorbike is teased with a hashtag #thewickedride and the manufacturer used a letter "R" in the teaser. In my point of view, there are less chance for the motorbike with a name Fiero. So... Is it a Retron or Raider?? The name Retron seems more suitable for a motorbike with neo retro features. But, the motorbike teased had the modern design elements. So, there are less possibilities for a name Retron. Most probably it'll be named as Raider... Just a guess. The motorbike is about to be launched by 16th September that is day after tomorrow. Let's wait & watch. There may be a surprise waiting for us in the back side of the door from the manufacturer.
Now let's dive into the teaser. For me, the motorbike looks iterated from the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. Another thought aroused inside me is like, why it shouldn't be a Apache RTR 125??? We have only few offerings from various manufacturers in the 125cc segment today. Now, TVS has jumped into this segment like the good old days to catch up the market again. Even though the "R" badging is stressed more, Apache RTR 125 excites me more. As the hashtag contains a word "wicked", the front end of the motorbike looks so. The overall headlamp cowl design looks somewhat similar to that of the Apache's design, but the internal components differs. The identical X shaped LED DRL splits the two main beam along with the another beam at the bottom.
The headlamp beam also looks strong. Surely, this'll dominate the darker roads if there's a three main beam setup. The turn indicators looks like a halogen unit and I also noticed the levers which is finished in silver. The fuel tank is also slightly beefy and the seat has got a split style. With a TVS badge, digital instrument cluster is nourished with tachometer, speedometer, trip meters, gear position, side stand warning & so on and I think the motorbike will also receive a side stand cut-off feature like its rivals. The yellow & black color treatment looks attractive and the tail lamp is also a LED unit which looks different & stunning.
But according to Sudarshan Venu, joint MD of TVS Motor Company has confirmed that they'll be launching the two new 125cc products in our country. One of the product is expected to be the Raider and the other one will be a scooter. In the teaser, we can also able to see a keyhole at the back, which makes us believe that its a scooter. But it do look like a motorbike leaving us confused. Let's wait & watch at the day of launch which is going to happen very soon.
