Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR officially unveiled

After giving us the glimpse of the motorbike multiple times, Triumph finally unveiled its all new Speed Triple 1200 RR globally. This one is a neo retro, Cafe Racer styled sports motorbike which is based & inspired from the manufacturer's already present Speed Triple 1200 RS. While the RS is sculpted with a twin symmetrical looking headlamp assembly, 1200 RR features a single round shaped headlamp which is integrated on the sleek looking semi fairing. The overall design of the motorbike impressed me as it gave me a slight feel of a Cafe Racer motorbike.

Other changes includes a lowered clip-on instead of a handlebar on the RS and the clip-on is also mounted below the top yoke for a aggressive rising position which means the footpegs are also slightly moved to the rear. In design wise, everything tends to continue the same except the addition of a new fairing. The new small bubble visor also looks purposeful which improves the overall aerodynamic efficiency of the motorbike. But I expected a RAM air intake system very much by seeing vents around the headlamp assembly at the teaser. But the revealed model doesn't feature it.

The motorbike is powered by a inline 3 cylinder, LC, DOHC motor which is also borrowed from the 1200 RS churning out 177.6bhp at 10,750rpm and 125Nm at 9000rpm and the engine is mounted on the aluminium twin spar frame along with the bolted rear sub frame. Braking duties are also handled by the same twin 320mm discs with Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers & radial master cylinder at the front and a single 220mm disc with 2 piston Brembo caliper at the rear assisted by a cornering ABS system.

Unlike its naked sibling, RR is equipped with the electronic semi active suspension units. It comprises of a 43mm fully adjustable Ohlins USD forks with 120mm travel which is capable of electronic adjustment for compression & rebound damping at the front. Rear end gets a Ohlins monoshock hooked to a single sided swingarm which is also capable of electronic adjustment for compression & rebound damping. Due to the electronics, suspension settings are also changed according to the riding modes which is very much helpful for making it stiffer before hitting the tracks very hard.

5" TFT instrument cluster is integrated on the fairing itself which also includes keyless ignition and cruise control. Riding modes includes road, rain, sport and track. In addition to that, it also gets a customizable rider option. It rolls with the help of Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa rubbers wrapped in a 5 V shaped alloy wheels. Other electronics includes switchable cornering traction control system and bi-directional quickshifter. The motorbike is offered in two color options that is red hopper storm grey & crystal white storm grey and priced at Rs 18.33 lakh roughly without any taxes and duties. The motorbike will hit the international markets by early 22, but the chances of making its way into our country is very less. Anyways.... I think the machine will be launched in our country by the late 22 or by 23.
